Recently (ok, not really) I attended the birthday parties of 2 dear friends. One was at McDonald's! I can safely say that reliving those childhood days of catered parties at Maccas with the icecream cake, party bags and happy meals all in a sound-proofed room was sinfully fun.
Especially as a bunch of 19 year olds.
One guy dressed up in a suit! I know all the strange looks from the patrons outside were jealous ones, especially considering KT the birthday girl was pretty much bouncing up and down with excitement at the words "BALLOONS" (see photo below).

I also ate at Kazbah for the first time, for Jonny's birthday. The majority of the food was pretty fantastic (we had the Ottoman banquet), and if you happen to visit you MUST have the fried cauliflower with the eggplant jam. Anyhow...
The highlight of the evening definitely has to be this:
"If the knife comes out dirty...you have to kiss Nas!"
As always, good food with good friends is a pretty unbeatable combination.

Rant:
On a side note, I have realised I haven't posted in more than a week or visited any blogs which is dreadful! Where did all that time go? I feel like I am living in a bubble; time passes so quickly but this past week just feels like a blur and all I remember is:
- Being busy
- Sleeping
- Eating
My research project should finish soon so I'm really really looking forward to a stretch of time when I can just bum around, regain my senses and actually reply to those "urgent" emails I decided to ignore...
Also, totally unrelated, I just installed Lightroom 3.6 and I'm loving it (except for the lag). The noise reduction tool and archiving has literally changed my life!
Have a great week, everyone :)

Awesome photos, as per usual. I enjoy birthdays and I love attending parties! I'm thinking of throwing a kiddie themed party for someone close.

Both very different dinners look amazing in their own way! I had my last birthday dinner at a small underground moroccan restaurant, and the last one I went to was at her boyfriends apartment!

ReplyDeleteAnnie! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. I always look forward to getting feedback, and reading words such as yours are always enjoyable. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner--the whole newjobnewlifeohandnowI'msicktoo deal has kind of taken over. :( However, I wanted to tell you THANK YOU and that these parties look like a lot of fun! Quite different, yes, but still remarkably enjoyable. I kind of wish I had a party at McDonald's, just because I'm in my mid-twenties and think it would be "whimsical." :)
ReplyDeleteLOL omg my friend had her 18th at maccas and she made us all dress up in formal wear bahaha, it was epic. I still love their ice cream cakes
ReplyDeleteOh my, Macca's is such a good birthday party idea. I'm so bummed, I just sent out my invites this arvo, totally would have been doing this, haha.
ReplyDeleteBlogger's being a poo and not letting me comment on the above post, but major congratulations on being accepted into medicine! That's so exciting, best of luck with getting everything organised :)
