Been doing this a lot recently; sitting in the bath staring at my knees. (This is mainly because we are waiting for both showers to be retiled- very mundane I know). But aside from the initial inconvenience, I quite like sitting there silently moping, daydreaming and generally contemplating the finer mysteries of life. Like today, I took an especially long, self-indulgent soak to feel sorry for myself. URGH... finals start tomorrow and I can smell my imminent demise. Wish me luck :(

Favourite picture taken today. Finally caught him unaware as he stood by himself squinting into the distance. This is about after 30 attempts of getting a photo of him where he isn't squirming, swatting the camera or darting away. But yes, favourite photo of the dude who somehow manages to continually surprise me.

I'm not sure why my feet look so extraordinarily small here. Moment of the morning: when the tide crept up on us and soaked my carefully preserved feet. Cue my leather sandals rapidly expanding and flopping loosely off my foot. So yes I went to uni in sandy, damp feet and shoes. Guess I love the beach so much I decided to take it with me....

Anyway, I'm not sure I really like how these photos turned out. But then again, no-one takes their best photos when they're having fun right?! Glad I got to document it though, as I'm looking over them remembering about how good my morning was in comparison to now. Feeling disappointed, out of it, and looking for every other reason to not do what I'm supposed to be doing- hence the post. Ah well, moments pass and the future awaits. Driving home. If there's anything I love it's the quiet drive home with R at the end of the day, some valuable time to reflect, chat, laugh. Time for screaming fights with the windows rolled down, and for terse, swollen silences. But it's also time to dream and scheme for the future... Anyway, I whipped out my camera just in time for this sunset as we crossed a small bridge in all of 3 seconds. Today you could actually smell the lazy summer breeze (you know what i'm talking about right?)- and such warm, drowsy sunshine! Doesn't get much better than that.

Sweets and chocolate in test-tubes, how cute is that? An instant pick-me-up especially after having 1.5 hours of sleep last night (don't ask...) Plus they taste even better than they look. In fact I pretty much gorged myself with them as soon as I got home, and only read the cute little punny labels after I was left staring mournfully at the empty tubes. Check out the Happy Lab site here and fawn over how adorable all the edibles are in their conical flasks and petri dishes (not on the site but apparently you can use them for reasons other than growing moulds).

Bag Raiders headlined Oktoberfest at my uni, and while the rest of the lineup was pretty good, they made it worth the ridiculous $50 cab fee home. In my defence, I really didn't know trains stopped so early on weeknights. I hate you, Cityrail.

So now I know why Oktoberfest here is so infamous. The floor inside was literally covered by alcohol and debris ( I watched in horror as some drunk girl danced/mopped the floor in socks), inebriated, high or stoned people left right and centre, a giant inflatable slide, drink stalls every 5m and about 4 music acts going simultaneously. Saw countless boys in lederhosen and beer maids groping, rolling in the bushes and almost-but-not having sex. 

Strangely enough, the combination of it all made the vibe fantastic; guess you can't go wrong with a couple thousand of people all rocking up to just have fun. Plus you know it was good when you wake up the next morning with inexplicable pains in your right ribs and collarbone. Still dragged myself to uni today, weak limbs and all so I'm proud.

Speaking of proud, I managed to salvage these non-blurry photos from my point and shoot, they turned out ok! And speaking of cameras, I have a (kind of) new baby to show you all...

As much as I like to think that I am quite indifferent to flowers, I really am not. So I was touched when R randomly surprised me a few days ago by whipping this bunch of orange/red ones out, along with a bottle of guava juice (best drink). They are now atop my dresser and I find myself vacantly staring at them sometimes, reminiscing about the time R hid a rose in his suit for 3 hours as a sort-of "magic trick" and the other time when I was stomping to uni like a moody-bitch and he leapt out ninja-style brandishing a flower in an effort to cheer me up. Too good to me. 

In other news, it was my youngest sister's 6th birthday yesterday. She spent the day at someone's else's party, then playing in her best friend's house then out to dinner with the family then back home for presents and more cake. What a princess. 

FYI, the cake was kind of gross but she chose it because it had a smiley face on it (which she declared tasted horrible). Still, she spent the whole day saying "this is the best day EVER!!" so I guess it was a success.

What I thought were scratches on a plane window turned out to be snowflakes...at least that's what I think they are. For some reason this just gets me thinking about how ridiculously fast this year has gone by (is it just me?) and how- if I really think about it- I've seen, felt, experienced so many new things in the past 10 months alone. So thank you, memory card that I had almost forgotten about!

P.S simplified layout again, including header/banner. Perhaps I will only be happy when it's 'clean' to the point where it's an empty white page?

I think there is something quite pretty about city lights in the rain. This thought leads me to do things like stand next to a dumpster, fumbling for a camera in plain view of the nonchalant hipsters sipping coffee under cover (first one) or balancing my little camera precariously on a ledge whilst waiting for 1. a favourable succession of buses, and 2. the traffic lights to change (second one). Sorry about the dodgy quality btw, I had limited tools.

I feel like I've been jipped. It is supposed to be spring here, and unless that means gale force winds, constant rain and sub 20 degrees temp, the weather is being seriously un-Australian.

Feeling uninspired for the the past couple of weeks; I checked my camera to see what I had been up to and this was all I found. I feel like the scene in American Beauty where they watch the ridiculous video of the plastic bag floating around in the wind- minus the mind-blowing epiphany. So please bear with me and my pseudo-meaningful photos of windows and doors...

ANYWHO, we held a BBQ in the rain at uni this week for my society. You'd be surprised at the joy one feels whilst poking at wet sausages, whilst standing in a puddle, whilst holding an umbrella. Passerbys did indeed applaud our determination. That would pretty much be the pinnacle of my week, the rest has been kind of downhill partly due to exam period looming. But no matter, life goes on.  

I swear I will get around to returning your lovely comments. I appreciate the amazing regulars who read my dribble and comment every post, brings a tear to my eye :'-) Sending everyone virtual love, good karma and lollipops!
