Just some photos taken while wandering around an overcast Sydney a couple weekends ago. Wandering is always the best kind of exploration.

Speaking of which, it is such a relief to be home home right now after what seemed like an age holed up in Newcastle. When R picked me up at the station, I physically could not stop myself from grinning like an idiot.

Also, fingers crossed I'll get to go check out Vivid Sydney while i'm here!

Yesterday was R's birthday (and Mothers' day). We celebrated on Saturday with a bunch of his friends over dinner at a Nepalese restaurant, complete with embroidered floor cushions and inconveniently dim lighting.

When I watched him blow out his 20 candles I realised that the amount of love I have for this boy is RIDICULOUS. That, and he needs a haircut. But seriously, happy birthday dear...if you are reading this I want you to know that I could not possibly be any happier with you.

Oh yeah, I NAILED the cake choice! You know how important that is.

I bought this bag a couple of weeks ago, and thought I'd post a few photos of it since I'm kind of in love with it now! It's a black Michael Kors "Joan" satchel which I believe is discontinued now (not sure why) but I basically bought it because it fits my camera. Before this, for more than a year I carried around a tiny bag which fit my wallet and not much else, leaving my camera to be abused by the elements whilst hanging on my shoulder. So after a lot of searching around I just took the plunge and got this one because it's super roomy, good quality, leather and has a long strap etc. Plus the lockable zips is pretty cool. And the  bowler shape.

Enough of that! I always feel a bit odd posting about "new stuff I bought" since it feels a bit superficial and materialistic... but that is probably just me? Funny fact though, I took these photos at the train station while bored and waiting an hour for the train to Sydney. After flitting around my bag for a good 15 minutes snapping away, I realised a man 5 metres away was staring at me the entire time. He merely smirked and looked away. Weird girl takes narcissistic photos of her bag. Yep, that's me.

Breakfast

Yep. After that day I realised that was the first time in a while that I had taken my camera out and about...I've forgotten how fun it was. That, and the unexpected glory of breakfast dates- I highly encourage them! Aside from watching The Avengers (jizz) with R- who insisted on buying the giant Thor cup and popcorn combo- that was my weekend.

I don't know if splitting my week up between Sydney and Newcastle is getting any easier, but hopefully i'm getting there. Life here in Newcastle is proving to be quite interesting...the past week at uni has involved  a (free) buffet dinner on campus whilst taking part in a mass skype video call with a surgeon WHILE he was operating on a boy in a hospital in Vietnam. 

And on friday night after having dinner and drinks with my tutor and tutor group (yes I know) I went to a friend's house party which was a weird experience, not knowing anyone. May have involved a dodgy guy sidling up to me and offering me a ziplock bag filled with equally dodgy substances. A few days later, I bumped into said dodgy guy while shopping at the local Woolies. Very awkward.
