There's something about Fridays. Normally I'm stuck at uni until late and after dawdling about and grabbing some dinner in the city, I head home drained and limp as people come out all dressed up, smiling, kicking for a night out. Something about the vibe. But anyway, last Friday I went out to a party with the girls (and R) @Soho bar/club, Kings Cross. Only after we went to a dodgy restaurant of course.
"Hey, let's eat here."
"But it's completely empty..."
"Look, the sign says $5 steaks!!"
"Alright, let's eat here."

I find that some of the cheapest, littlest things I own hold the most priceless memories:

Surprisingly comfortable, may be attributed to rubber treading which allows me to (almost) walk up walls. The time when walking 10km to accidentally discover a closing down shoe sale was really worth it.

Quite possibly the warmest thing I own, and in many more ways than one. Reminds me of all the times I tried to knit parts of it when he wasn't looking so that it wouldn't take him a year to finish.

3. The time when my flight from Townsville to Sydney was delayed by 3+ hours, so I wandered around buying more stuff
4. The time when a sort-of friend randomly made me a friendship bracelet. Strangely, not really friends with said friend anymore.

Woke up today with a headache and a quarter of my right toenail missing (?), but this is what I got up to yesterday.

We were supposed to have a Masterchef style "cook-off" at Jonny's house but ended up spending indeterminate amounts of time in Woolworths racing up and down the aisles in shopping carts (mature, yeah), racking up a large grocery bill and spending too much time playing with Oscar, the dog. Still managed to produce some delicious food, and I must say there is something incredibly uplifting about cooking with friends.

Yesterday I rolled out of bed near midday and dragged my body out to Paddington, where I caught up with a friend. I have to admit I've never actually been (for shame) but it is such a great place to shop!

The markets were fairly average, but that may have been because by the time we got there at 4, all the stalls were beginning to pack up.
Wandered the streets a little more, visited The Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery. Thought to myself that when I am an adult and my financial department is in less of a dismal state, I will buy a print for my house!
Actually, the only thing I bought that day was a pair of $10 strappy wedges (closing down sale, bitches). Saw these awesome lunchbags but being a mature uni student and all, I had to settle for a picture:

We were aiming to visit the markets but got sidetracked by sandwiches and William St., a street of terraces the fronts of which have been converted into little boutiques. It was quite fun to duck into all the little stores and do some exploring; the vibe there is so relaxed and intimate.
I recall a hippy looking dude coming out the back of one of the stores to greet us- halfway through making a shoe- and in another store, a demure girl with pink/blond/brown hair idly shopping online at the counter.

Standing Outside Zara

Remember when Zara came to Sydney and everyone made a huge deal about it? I suppose it's not as crazy-hectic as it was in the first few months it opened- I remember R&I barely lasted 5 minutes in that store with all the jostling people, claws out yanking clothes off racks left, right and centre. ("Annie, how come they don't even look at what they're grabbing?!" he asked.)
Anyway, after a lazy non-happening day at uni, we walked about the city a bit.

I thought it was strange how the super sleek new Westfields join onto the other traditional buildings. All that glass makes it kind of pervasive. We also walked through the Strand- properly for the first time- where I window-shopped all the major label's stores and discovered THIS creepy looking display:

Think the store was called Aesop, and I'm not sure if it was just me but that display disturbs me. Stood outside for a minute with my jaw open until R wandered in and was forced to apply a pungent hand lotion by a tres slick dude. I don't know, I just wanted to go in there and mess all the bottles up or something!
Onto other news. In the past 3 days I was kicked out of a lecture, dropped the back of my phone down the platform gap at Wynyard station, spent the last $3 in my bank account on an orange juice and became president of SMSSOC.
